Manual Restriction Removal
If you tested in an automatic, your Arizona CDL carries an "E" restriction that keeps you out of every manual truck on the road. We train you on a manual and take you back through the state skills test to get it removed.
Who this is for
Drivers who already hold a Class A CDL with the automatic restriction on it. You do not need to repeat theory or the written exams — this is behind-the-wheel training on a manual transmission plus the skills test that clears the restriction.
What you need to start
- A current Class A CDL carrying the automatic (E) restriction
- A valid DOT medical certificate
- A DOT drug screen (included in the program fee)
Not restricted, just rusty on a stick?
Our 20-hour Shifting Practice course ($662) is the better fit. It is for drivers who already have no manual restriction and want to reconnect with a manual transmission. It requires verifiable driving experience in the last five years, and because it is not a certification course, no road evaluation is performed and no certificate is issued.
Why an unrestricted licence is worth it
- Increased job opportunities and greater route flexibility
- Enhanced control of the truck and broader experience
- Some carriers running automatic-only fleets still require drivers to hold no restriction
